Michael Maurice 'Mike' Ingram (1933-2001)

Father: William Ingram:

Birth: 3 January 1897, Aldershot, Hampshire.

Marriage: 1920, Portsmouth, Hampshire (William was 23 years old).

Occupation: Seaman, Royal Navy.

Death: 1965, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire (William was 68 years old).

After being shore pensioned from the Royal Navy on 22 March 1928, Mike's father worked in various low-paid jobs such as college house porter and brewery lorry driver's mate, and his family although not destitute, lived a hand-to-mouth existence. Although his father was 42 years old at the outbreak of World War II (1939-1945), he was recalled to serve with the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve (R.N.V.R.) on home-based duties.

 

Mother: Amy Wilson:

Birth: 31 January 1900, Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Death: 1979, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire (Amy was 79 years old).

 

Birth: 21 May 1933, 141, Whaddon Avenue, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Mike was the sixth of ten children born to his parents. He and his siblings were raised in the spa town of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, located 96 miles (154 kilometers) north west of London.

 

Marriage 1: 9 October 1954, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire (Mike was 21 years old).

 

Spouse 1: Living, divorced 26 July 1965.

 

Children: 3 x living.

 

Marriage 2: 5 August 1967, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire (Mike was 34 years old).

 

Spouse 2: Living, divorced 3 March 1975.

 

Children: None.

Spouse 3: Patricia Dorothy 'Pat' Eastland:

Birth: 17 May 1935, 28, Victoria Road North, Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Death: 9 April 2006, Bristol Royal Infirmary, Bristol, Gloucestershire (Pat was 70 years old).

Although previously married and divorced, Mike was  generous and kind towards Pat, and proved himself to be a terrific step-dad to her five children. He and Pat had a comfortable life together for 25 years.

 

Children: None.

 

Occupations: Military service (1950-1968), engineer's machinist (1969-1978) and stores supervisor (1979-1998).

 

Hobbies and interests: Gardening.

 

Death: 20 February 2001, Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, Gloucestershire (Mike was 67 years old).

 

Cause of death: Lung cancer.
